Our Story
THE GATHERING began with a prayer in the hearts of Pastor Randy Fields and his wife Lindy, “God, teach us to love people.”
With the help of the original Dream Team, 19 people committed to seeing the dream become a reality and THE GATHERING launched on August 12, 2007. That Sunday, 180 people attended our first service at the Thomas County Central Middle School.
From the very beginning, THE GATHERING prioritized reaching out to the non-churched community with the belief and pursuit that everybody’s invited, everybody’s included, and everybody’s important. God has used the relevant and life giving message of the Gospel, the passion and joy of Sunday services, the drive to relationships, and a simple way of doing church to bring immediate and consistent growth.
As the story continues we have seen exponential growth as a church body and tremendous spiritual growth in the lives of many who call THE GATHERING their church home. Today, hundreds of people attend the Sunday services and Community Groups all over our area. God is at work at THE GATHERING. We invite you to “come and see” for yourself just how exciting and fun church can be when the focus is simple and people are free to go after God with passion!
