SNUBING!

One of the fun things we did on family vacation last year was to go “snubing” (that’s what Lindy and Grasyon called it) or snow tubing just outside Boone, NC. Watching my ‘nearly perfect’ grandson screaming in delight was worth the trip! And, not only did I have a blast, I learned something. We were told the most important thing was drag your feet to control your speed and stop. As we waited at the top for our turn, I couldn’t help but watch as some people would drag their feet all the way down. Not only did it take forever but it sure didn’t look like fun. It actually defeated the whole purpose of going in the first place. Needless to say, when it was my turn, I kept my feet up and went in hot! What a ride!

Our Christian journey is so like that adventure down a snow covered mountain. It’s so easy to let the expectations of others, all our problems, and the challenges of life so distract us that we miss the joy of even being alive. But, when we throw all that off and stop dragging our feet, we experience the fullness of a life designed by our God. When we get ourselves out of the picture and focus on Jesus, we see clearly and are able to run the race that’s marked out for us. So, pick up your feet.  Get rid of whatever it is that’s holding you back, all the distractions, and let God’s Holy Spirit lead you on the ride of your life!

Don’t you love God more?!!?

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race that is marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12:1 NIV
