Is knowledge for the sake of knowledge the most important reason to read or study scripture?

Matthew 22:37-39 shares that Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.  Love him with all your mind.  This is the first and most important commandment.  And the second is like it.  Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”

Loving God and loving others is a lifestyle of devotion.  We learn so much from reading the word, and our love is expressed through our actions.  It’s been said that believing without applying is the same as not believing.  This is really true when it comes to the Bible.

James 1:22 tells us, “Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says!”

In other words, application makes all the difference.  As you begin your relationship with Christ or if you’re climbing new heights on the journey, here are some great steps to take in your devotional life.  And remember, don’t just read it, DO IT!
